Bounce Back Loan Scheme top-ups open for eligible businesses

Participating lenders in the Bounce Back Loan Scheme (BBLS) are now able to offer smaller businesses across the UK a ‘top-up’ to their existing Bounce Back Loan if they originally borrowed less than the maximum amount available to them.

The Bounce Back Loan top-up will be available from several large lenders, with other lenders anticipated to make the top-up available in due course.

Business Acceleration Hub member wins Innovate UK grant

Innovate UK as part of UK Research and Innovation, is investing up to £191 million to fund both single and collaborative research and development projects via the Sustainable Innovation Fund over the next two years. The aim of these competitions is to help all sectors of the UK rebuild after the effects of COVID-19.

Currently the Sustainable Innovation Fund is funding 1,103 projects, 1069 UK businesses and totalling over £130 million in support across the UK.

University of Bath backs the biggest celebration of digital and tech in the South West

The University of Bath Innovation Centre is partnering with the Bath Digital Festival to offer a fun-packed online programme for the entire family this week, Tuesday 20 October to Saturday 24 October.

New Research Associate joins the Sustainable Technologies Business Acceleration Hub

The Sustainable Technologies Business Acceleration Hub (STBAH) has confirmed the appointment of Dr Laurent Perge as the newly appointed Research Associate for the business acceleration programme. Dr Laurent Perge takes over from Dr Jason Camp who had held the post for 2 years.

Laurent will be responsible for continuing to build the relationships between SMEs and the University of Bath, which will involve undertaking technical business development and engagement activities as well as research project development associated with the programme.

£8m to create post-covid workforce of the future

Workforce for the Future is a free service that will help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to identify and address their skills needs, by upskilling and retraining employees, in areas such as digital, or support them to source and bring in new staff, including apprentices or work placements to drive their business forwards.

The programme – led by WECA and co-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) – will help SMEs develop their workforce, looking at current and future needs.

The South West Creative Technology Network (SWCTN) are aiming to fund ideas for prototypes in the field of Data that are brave and distinctive, that open up the field to new voices and challenge the status quo.

Proposal for city centre innovation centre gets £300k boost

Last week’s announcement of the approval of outline proposals for a new facility, designated I-START, to be located on Bath College’s City Centre campus is welcome, exciting and timely news indeed in these challenging days.
