#1 - Dopplle, the sustainable clothes swapping app!
Welcome to Dopplle, the sustainable clothes swapping app! Dopplle was co-founded by sisters Izzie and Sam Hurst back in 2019 when it was just a concept to give students the chance to live more sustainably through their fashion. Dopplle became a limited company in 2020 on the 6th of February, and we haven’t looked back since!
I am Izzie, one of the co-founders, but also one of the Innovation Award holders for the year 2022/23 from the University of Bath! Keep an eye on this blog to see what I have been up to throughout the year, and what you (as a UoB student) could also do with Enterprise Bath after university.
October was the busiest start to the Innovation Award I could have possibly had… Submitting my dissertation at the end of September meant I got to have a small break before diving straight into Dopplle. We ran 15 different Freshers Fair stands at universities across the south of the UK, from Exeter to Bath to London. We love doing these as it gives us a chance to connect with each student community whilst also showing how Dopplle can be integrated into their lifestyle, making their fashion more sustainable (while still looking good).
Since becoming an Innovation Award holder, I was ecstatic to see the new Enterprise Lab, a space specifically for Enterprise Bath and students to come together, collaborate and innovate. This space is an extremely valuable part of entrepreneurship at Bath and I have loved using it. Even though I don’t live in Bath anymore, when I am back you will be able to find me sitting at the big desk, with something orange nearby (Dopplle = orange branding).
My focus hasn’t just been on Bath this month though, Dopplle collaborated with West Herts College (in Hertfordshire), where we ran a month-long photography project with the students. They were given a brief revolving around pre-loved clothes and Dopplle, and produced some fantastic images and concepts! I love working with institutions because it is great to see how Dopplle can inspire young people through different ways.
The University of Cambridge was also graced with Dopplle’s presence, where we ran an incredible and busy swap shop as the finale of their campus wide Green Week initiative. So many swaps happened, and we cannot wait to go back there soon.
October was a busy month, but Dopplle and I are looking forward to what is coming next! If you want to have a chat, please do not hesitate to reach out - izzie.hurst@dopplle.com
