Women with exciting, innovative ideas who will inspire others can apply for a £50,000 grant and bespoke business support.

Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, is offering at least 20 Women in Innovation Awards to female entrepreneurs across the UK. The winners will receive a £50,000 grant and a bespoke package of mentoring, coaching and business support.

The aim of this competition is to find women with exciting, innovative ideas and ambitious plans that will inspire others. The awards are for female founders, co-founders or senior decision makers working in businesses that have been operating for at least one year.

As we build back better from Covid, it is a priority of mine to continue equipping our brightest female innovators with the tools they need to succeed, while encouraging a new generation of women to come forward and pursue their ambitions.
Today we are supporting 40 of our most trailblazing female entrepreneurs, helping them to turn their innovative ideas and aspirations into a reality, creating the products and services that will help improve our lives and boost our economy.
— Science Minister Amanda Solloway

Applicants must be confident, with the support of an award, that they can make a significant contribution to a pressing societal, environmental or economic challenge through their innovative project.

The competition is split into two phases. In phase 1, the application will be assessed by independent experts. In phase 2, the shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by a panel of experts.

Each award will provide £50,000 of funding. Projects must start on 1 April 2022 and will last for one year.

The competition opens to applications on Monday 23rd August and closes at 11am on Wednesday 13th October. Please contact your dedicated Entrepreneur in Residence for support with your application.

Innovate UK and KTN are hosting a briefing event, on the 24th of August, to tell you more about the scope for this competition, the application process and support available for applicants.
