Keen to learn more on how to keep products & materials in use?

The Sustainable Technologies Business Acceleration Hub (STBAH) - a programme which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund to support start up and existing sustainable technology and low carbon businesses provides 12 hours of bespoke and tailored business support to businesses in the West of England.  As part of the programme the STBAH also run a number of events and workshops and are inviting organisations and individuals to register for tickets to their next sustainable economy event.  

The event is free for all to attend and is being held in Bristol at the Engine Shed on Thursday 27th June from 8am-10.30am - it is part of a series of linked events aimed at exploring approaches to creating a sustainable economy.  

The event on the 27th June will focus on Keeping Products and Materials in Use and is aimed at SMEs or start-ups interested in reuse, repair, remanufacturing or recycling, or new business models such as ‘access to ownership’.  If you have a product or service or innovation in one of these areas or may simply be curious about how to get your business in shape to contribute to a sustainable economy then this event is for you.

There are a number of key expert speakers lined up, including Dr Sophie Parsons from the University of Bath who will give a keynote on the role of materials in our transition to a low carbon economy. This will be followed by a talk from Dan Hird who is Head of Corporate Finance at Triodos Bank - Dan will talk about their approach to funding sustainable businesses and supporting a sustainable economy. Rounding up the presentations, Dr Sally Beken from KTN Ltd will present and feedback on government initiatives planned in this area.

Following the keynote talks there will be flash presentations from two innovating companies who have been receiving business support through the STBAH programme. Antony Pullen, CEO at Pinweld Ltd will talk about their innovative precision polymer weld technology, set to revolutionise the way that high value plastic components are maintained, by repairing rather than replacing them.  Following on from this Steve Sliney founder of CollectEco will discuss how they are making an impact through waste management by helping UK businesses donate surplus furniture & equipment to charities, schools and not for profit organisations.

The event will be rounded off with a panel discussion and the opportunity for everyone to network.

Keeping Products and Materials in Use is free and open for all attend, registration is from 8am when coffee and breakfast will be available - the first keynote will start at 8.15am and the event will close by 10.30am.

Ticket registration is via the eventbrite page and everyone is being encouraged to sign up for what promises to be a very engaging, thought provoking and topical event. 

The next event in the series will be on Regenerating Natural Systems looking at biological cycles through renewable resources or using renewable feedstocks.  Registration (via eventbrite) is open for this event which takes place on Wednesday 18th September at the Engine Shed.
