Member News | Statsbomb raise £1.5m and hold conference at Chelsea FC

SETsquared Bath residential member Statsbomb Services has just closed their Series A investment round finalising £1.5m. Huge congratulations to the team! Co founder and COO, Charlotte Randall told us:

“We are delighted to close our Series A investment round at £1.5m. We had consistent advice early on - 'it will take a ton of time, be prepared', they were right! SETsquared helped us refine our pitch deck and presentation skills early on, then it was a case of going to market. Every conversation with potential investors was hugely valuable, even when the answer was No we learnt more about scaling our business, where the risks are and where to focus our time and energy within the pitch process. The process also helped us solidify our projections of market opportunity and with introductions for some of our key hires.

 A sterling Summer on the sales front made things easier as time went by, it got harder for investors to say No after we were able to prove triple growth YOY for a second year in a row!”

In other Statsbomb news

Last month, Statsbomb held their inaugural Innovation in Football conference at Chelsea FC's Stamford Bridge stadium in London.

They had two tracks open all day, where key industry speakers divulged coveted insight from the world’s top teams including PSG, FC Barcelona and Ajax. They also ran a research competition where the winners presented new innovative research in football. As well as a dedicated women's panel including Emma Hayes MBE (Manager of Chelsea Women's team), Jacqui Oatley OBE (Sports Broadcaster) and Vosse De Boode (Head of Sports Science at FC Ajax) where they spoke about inequality in the sport and practical things Statsbomb and other people are doing to address this and encourage women in the football industry.

Both tracks were packed all day - they sold approximately 250 tickets, 50 of which were student tickets discounted to half price as they wanted to encourage aspiring analysts to be able to attend their event because other similar events are typically invite or business invite-only. The remainder of the tickets were sold (£190+ VAT each) to football clubs around the world, with attendees from the UK, US, Europe and Africa. 

The event was a roaring success, and the Statsbomb team are still buzzing from it! Suited & Booted Studios (Bath based video production company and totally awesome) videoed all of their talks, including a live feed from the main room.
