Santander's paid internship scheme 2019

Santander have just launched their SME internship programme for summer 2019. For SME’s it’s an excellent way to work with students and recent graduates, exploring their talent and up to date thinking processes. For students it gives access to industries they might not had considered as a viable career pathway. Internships are typically 10 weeks, with Santander part funding the salary.

Santander and Internships

Universities help students to prepare for their future career. We’re here to help students and graduates gain work experience within a small or medium enterprise through our paid SME internship programme.

The programme gives students access to the industries and organisations that they want experience in and there’s also a possibility of extending the internship, or moving to a permanent contract depending on the needs of the SME.

The interns are paid £300 per week for placements between 2 and 10 weeks. Half of this is paid by the SME and half by Santander. For placements that are 2 weeks or less, Santander will cover the cost. For the students it’s an excellent opportunity to gain vital work experience and for the SME, it’s a chance to work with talented young professionals.

Having run the internship programme from its pilot phase in 2011, Becky Gallagher (Student Development Manager - Students’ Union) has seen great successes, watching businesses grow as a direct response to the funding. At our February 2019 First Tuesday event, Becky will run through the terms and conditions of the programme and invites questions about how you can get involved.
