Enterprise workshop for doctoral students - a great success!
Parimala Shivaprasad is a final year PhD student of Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath and the winner of the 2018 Business Plan competition with her venture, Retra.
As someone that has already taken the first steps towards commercialisation, Parimala felt that the doctoral community would benefit from an enterprise workshop for students who have an idea and want to take it further and approached the doctoral college who agreed to fund a training workshop.
The workshop was organised on the 11th of July exclusively for doctoral students of University of Bath. The objective was to better engage the doctoral community with the enterprise activities of the university and BathSetsquared centre. It was also a chance for researchers to ideate and potentially develop their business plan using different tools and network with other like-minded people. Participants were able to develop their ideas using a business model canvas and also pitch it to their peers using a pitch deck at the end of the workshop.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and delegates were keen to remain in touch with the Innovation Centre as well as get involved with enterprise activities on campus.
If you are a doctoral student and want more information about research commercialisation please get in touch with Bath SETsquared, sign up for the 2018/19 Enterprise Education activities and have a look at the ICURE Programme.
