'I came with an idea and I'm leaving with a project' - SEIP Startup Bootcamp #5
Last week we delivered the fifth startup bootcamp for the Social Enterprise and Innovation Programme and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
The Social Enterprise and Innovation Programme (SEIP) is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to support start-up and existing social enterprises. There is a rolling timetable of group workshops. Led by experienced social entrepreneurs and coaches, delegates are introduced to methods and tools to help develop a convincing value proposition and sustainable business model. The workshops are specifically for;
- Individuals who are considering starting a social enterprise business
- Founders / managers of very early stage social enterprises (< 6 months old)
In the final session on Tuesday, delegates were asked “What did you take away from the two days and what are your next steps?”.
Caroline: ‘Incredibly helpful being able to frame it. The combination of people and tutors was great and I’m inspired to look further into what company structure I should adopt’
Ro: ‘ I have learnt more than I thought I would in 2 days, it has been so useful to meet people outside my network - my next step is to launch my website’
Zara: ‘very good experience, I did not know about this work, technical words, how to explain your idea in a few words. I am impressed with the social business canvas - I’m inspired to look for funding and start up with my two co-founders’
Monika: ‘ I learnt a lot on only 2 days, particularly to understand the difference between a social enterprise and business - my next step is to check into DBS checks, set up a basic website and business’
Ashley: ‘I came with an idea and I am leaving with a project, it was useful breaking it down and focussing on particular things. It was inspirational hearing all the other ideas’
At least 4 of the delegates expressed an interest in applying for the second phase of the programme which offers 12 hours of bespoke business support.
The next workshops are on 8 / 9 Feb and 19 / 20 April 2018 - there are a few places left and applications are still open - Apply here! or please help to spread the news about the programme!
