Dragons' Den Round 1 - A chance to receive £500 investment!

As part of the Entrepreneurship Programme of enterprise events at the university, SETsquared Bath’s Dragons’ Den pitching competition gives students the opportunity to pitch to our Dragons (Bath alumni) for the chance to win direct investment into their start-ups.

Round 1 is designed for proof of concept pitches and Round 2 for business development. The competition is open to undergrads and postgrads and you can apply as a team. Teams submit one application only.

Round 1 of Dragons’ Den will be hosted on Wednesday 29th November 2023 between 9am and mid-afternoon. Those who are chosen to pitch will hear from us shortly after the submission deadline. You are encouraged to join us and the Dragons for lunch which will be provided.

ROUND 1:

In Round 1 of Dragons’ Den up to £500 of investment is on offer to any candidate who impresses the Dragons - there’s no limit on winners.

Applications must include a 60 second video pitch for the money which should:

  • outline your business idea i.e. the problem you are trying to solve and the solution

  • what you want from the Dragons - eg £200 to attend an online marketing course or £150 to set up a focus group on campus to carry out customer discovery, or anything else that will help you to prove your concept.

Videos must be uploaded via Vimeo only and be no longer than one minute.

ROUND 2:

In March 2024 our second round of investment increases, with students able to pitch for up to £5,000. Again, there’s no limit on the number of winners! Students can enter Round 2 without previously having entered the first round, however judges will be looking to see proof of concept. To enter Round 2 entrants must submit a Business Plan in advance.

There will be various business plan writing workshops on hand which we would expect you to attend.

Applications to apply for Round 2 will open in Semester 2.
